HidaTakayama
Takayama is a city in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture and it is also referred to as Hida Takayama. Hida Takayama is rich in nature and it is known as a historical town. Takayama has acquired three stars in the Michelin tour guidebook. Many tourists visit here every year.
The old street "Sanmachi-dori"
At the center of the castle town, the three main streets of Takayama served as a merchant area in past times. This area is referred to as "Sanmachi-dori." There are some old architectures and shops that remain to this day. You can feel a traditional Japanese atmosphere. This district was designated as a Nationally Recognized Important Building Preservation Area.
Hida Folk Village: "Hida-No-Sato"
Hida Folk Village is an open air museum that exhibits over 30 buildings, recreating Hida's historical look. In each building, articles of daily use that recall the life and culture of farming villages in this mountaneous area are displayed.
